Search for Missing Indore Couple in Meghalaya Enters Eighth Day

Shillong, May 31, 2025, Virthli:The search for newlyweds Raja (30) and Sonam Raghuvanshi (27) from Indore, who disappeared during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, has entered its eighth day without any breakthroughs. The couple was last in contact with their family on May 23, after which their rented scooter was found abandoned near Sohrarim village in the East Khasi Hills district.

Authorities have intensified search operations, deploying over 50 personnel, including police officers, local volunteers, and Village Defence Parties, to comb the rugged terrain. However, continuous rainfall and steep landscapes have significantly hampered progress.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has stated that he is personally monitoring the situation daily. He emphasized that the entire community is involved in the search efforts, treating the missing couple as their own.

The couple's family has announced a ₹5 lakh reward for any information leading to their whereabouts. The case has drawn attention from national authorities, with the Union Home Ministry and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav coordinating with Meghalaya officials to expedite the search. 

Despite the challenging conditions, search teams continue to explore nearby rivers and forested areas, hoping for a breakthrough. The community remains hopeful for the couple's safe return.
