Nagaland Launches Student Bus Fleet to Ease College Commutes

Kohima, May 26, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a major boost to student welfare, Nagaland Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, flagged off a new fleet of buses for government colleges across the state. The initiative aims to provide safer and more reliable transportation for students, reducing travel-related hurdles that often lead to missed classes.

The colleges that received the new buses include:

1. Kohima Science College, Jotsoma

2. Kohima College, Kohima

3. Dimapur Government College, Dimapur

4. Phek Government College, Phek

5. Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung

Speaking during the flag-off, Minister Along quipped, “Not because I’m against morning walks—but because our students deserve comfort, speed, and fewer ‘Sir, bus nahin mila’ excuses!”

He also extended gratitude to Smt. V. Lovitoly Sema and the Higher Education Department for their proactive role in executing the initiative. Minister Along acknowledged the unwavering support of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in advancing student welfare and strengthening higher education in the state.

The move is expected to enhance academic punctuality, ease the burden of commuting for students, and support the broader goal of improving educational infrastructure across Nagaland.
