Nagaland Government Suspends IAS Officer Reny Wilfred Over Criminal Investigation

Kohima, May 21, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Government of Nagaland has suspended Shri Reny Wilfred, an IAS officer of the 2015 batch (Nagaland cadre), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Finance Department, in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.

According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Personnel A Branch), the suspension comes under the provisions of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969. The order, signed by Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam, IAS, states that the suspension is with immediate effect.

During the suspension period, Shri Wilfred’s headquarters will be the P&AR Department at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima. He has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior permission from the authorities.

The order also outlines that Shri Wilfred will be entitled to a subsistence allowance, equivalent to the leave salary he would have drawn on leave with half pay, along with applicable dearness allowance, in accordance with the rules governing All India Services.

The suspension order has been circulated to key government officials and departments, including the Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions in New Delhi, the Governor and Chief Minister of Nagaland, and other senior administrative officers.

The nature of the alleged criminal offence has not yet been disclosed, and the case remains under investigation.
