Senapati, May 10, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The United Naga Council (UNC) successfully concluded the four-day "Naga Conclave-2" today at the Senapati district headquarters in Manipur. Held under the theme “Critiquing Grand Narratives,” the event brought together over 200 delegates, including representatives from 20 Naga tribes, three subordinate bodies, and two associate groups.
Throughout the conclave, participants engaged in discussions on various topics pertinent to the Naga community. Notable sessions included:
* Prof. Xavier Mao from NEHU, Shillong, presented a critique of the geopolitical colonial framework.
* Human rights activist Chingya Luithui discussed the historico-political legal framework of colonialism affecting tribal communities.
* Dr. Benjamin Gangmei of United College, Chandel, examined constitutional provisions related to tribal rights, focusing on Article 371-C.
* Dr. Chingri Vashum of DM University, Imphal, provided insights into Naga customary and traditional rights.
* Dr. Lokho Puni, retired IFS officer, analyzed contemporary development trajectories within a neo-colonial context.
* Kh Siile Anthony, former director of HRD, NEC, facilitated a dialogue on the development matrix.
* Social activist Ngachonmy Chamroy explored the dynamics of political development and proposed pathways forward.

The conclave also reaffirmed its support for the Framework Agreement and advocated for an expedited resolution to the Naga political issue. Additional recommendations formulated during the event are pending finalization by the UNC's executive council before public release.
The event received support from the Naga Women’s Union and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, underscoring a collective commitment to addressing the challenges and aspirations of the Naga community.
