Imphal, May 21, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Government of Manipur has constituted an official Inquiry Committee to investigate the recent incident involving security personnel and a Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus carrying media personnel en route to the Manipur Shirui Festival 2025.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 20, 2025, near the Gwalatabi checkpoint in Imphal East District. The bus was transporting journalists to cover the annual cultural festival when the episode took place, prompting concerns over protocol and communication lapses.
According to an order issued by the Home Department, the Governor of Manipur has appointed Shri N. Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Home), and Shri Th. Kirankumar Singh, Secretary (IT), as members of the two-member Inquiry Committee.

The committee has been tasked with examining the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, identifying any lapses, and recommending measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The Committee has been instructed to submit its findings and recommendations within 15 days.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the safety of media personnel operating in sensitive regions.
