Churachandpur, May 17, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur District, has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as the "arbitrary" registration of an FIR against Mr. Paojakhup Guite, President of the KSO Delhi & NCR. In a press release dated May 17, 2025, the student body expressed deep concern over the move, calling it a clear attempt to stifle dissent and punish truth-telling.

KSO Churachandpur Decries FIR Against Paojakhup Guite, Calls for Justice

Mr. Guite has been a prominent figure in peaceful protests highlighting what the KSO terms the “sustained marginalisation and systemic discrimination” of the Kuki community in Manipur. His public criticism of events like the Shirui Lily Festival which he claims is being used to encroach into sensitive buffer zones has sparked widespread debate. Instead of addressing these concerns, the KSO alleges that authorities are resorting to intimidation and legal harassment.

The press statement further criticized the state's handling of inflammatory actions by individuals such as Pramod Singh, Mr. Koroungamba, and the creators of the controversial musical group Tapta. Despite multiple FIRs against these individuals for what the KSO describes as "deeply offensive" anti-Kuki content, no legal action has been taken, exposing what the organisation sees as a "culture of selective justice."

“The state’s apparent unwillingness to hold them accountable, while aggressively targeting Kuki activists, lays bare a deeply entrenched bias within the law enforcement and political machinery,” the statement reads.

The KSO has called on the Government of India and relevant state authorities to immediately initiate a meaningful political dialogue. It warned that the continued delay of a negotiated settlement would only deepen instability and risk sparking further violence.

In a strong message to the government, the organisation stated that any attempt to arrest Mr. Guite would be perceived as a grave injustice and a display of partiality. It added that the government would bear full responsibility for any untoward incident resulting from such action.

The press release concludes with a call for justice, impartial governance, and democratic accountability. The KSO emphasized the urgent need for “decisive, equitable action” that respects the rights and voices of all communities, particularly those who have been historically marginalized.
