Guwahati, May 12, 2025, Virtrhli (ONP): In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across Guwahati, the body of a 10-year-old boy was found stuffed inside a suitcase, with his mother and her live-in partner being arrested in connection with the gruesome crime.
The discovery was made on Sunday evening in the city’s Noonmati area, where locals alerted police after noticing a suspicious suitcase in the rented residence of the accused. Upon opening it, authorities were met with the horrific sight of the child's lifeless body, tightly packed into the bag.

According to police sources, the victim, identified as the son of the woman now in custody, had reportedly been missing for a few days. Initial investigations suggest that the boy was allegedly killed at home and the body kept concealed in the suitcase for several hours before the accused allegedly planned to dispose of it.
The mother and her partner, both of whom were present at the residence when police arrived, were immediately taken into custody. During preliminary interrogation, the duo allegedly gave inconsistent statements, prompting deeper scrutiny and subsequent arrests.
Officials from the Noonmati Police Station stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder and evidence concealment. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination.
Police are also probing the motive behind the crime, with reports indicating a possible history of domestic abuse and strained relationships within the household. The child’s biological father reportedly does not live with the family.
