Imphal, May 30, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a significant step toward the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Government of Manipur has announced that all Government Colleges in the state will introduce 4-year Bachelor’s Degree Courses (Honors/Research) from the academic year 2025-26.
The Directorate of University & Higher Education, in an official press release, highlighted the policy’s aim to bring transformative reforms in the higher education sector. The NEP-2020 emphasizes flexibility for students in choosing subjects and academic pathways, allowing multiple entry and exit options. These provisions are expected to reduce dropout rates and improve the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), a key goal of the NEP.
The reforms also focus on promoting lifelong learning through interdisciplinary education and enabling students to learn from anywhere, anytime.
With preparations already underway for the rollout of the new structure, the Directorate has appealed to all stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth transition and successful implementation.
The press release was issued by L. Radhakanta, Director of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
