Guwahati, May 31, 2025,Virthli (ONP): Assam is set to see a significant expansion in its air connectivity network, thanks to a fresh collaboration between the state government and leading airline IndiGo. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), announced several new developments following a recent meeting with IndiGo’s leadership in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Sarma urged the airline to improve connectivity to key locations in Assam, with a special focus on Silchar, Dibrugarh, and North Lakhimpur. IndiGo has responded positively, agreeing to introduce and restructure several routes to better serve the region.
Among the key announcements:
Delhi - Dibrugarh Route Enhanced: The existing Delhi–Dibrugarh flight will now include a stopover at Guwahati, ensuring convenient morning connectivity between Guwahati and Dibrugarh, two major cities in Assam.
New Guwahati - Silchar Morning Flight: Responding to long-standing demand from travelers, IndiGo will restructure its schedule to introduce a morning flight from Guwahati to Silchar.
Guwahati - Navi Mumbai Flight: A new route connecting Guwahati with Navi Mumbai is set to be launched as part of the airline’s Winter 2025 - 26 schedule.
North Lakhimpur in Focus: IndiGo will soon evaluate the feasibility of starting scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur, a move that could further decentralize air travel access in the state.
These additions come on the heels of the previously announced Delhi - Jorhat direct flight, which further strengthens Assam’s links with the national capital.
