Imphal, May 24, 2025, Virthli (ONP): Arambai Tenggol, Unit 58 COBRA, has issued a formal clarification addressing recent allegations surrounding its participation in a cultural event held at Shirui Hills. The statement responds to criticism by the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), which was reportedly based on a Facebook post by a page called *Manipur Stylish*, claiming the group had made a political assertion during the Shirui Lily Festival.
In the press release signed by Langamba Khuman of the AT Unit 58 COBRA, Arambai Tenggol expressed disappointment over what it termed as “inaccurate and misleading information” that has led to misunderstandings. The group clarified that the Shirui Lily is the official State Flower of Manipur, representing the collective identity of the state rather than any individual community. The event, it emphasized, was officially organized by the Manipur government and participants were engaged in a state-led cultural celebration.
Addressing the concerns over the use of the Salai Taret (Seven Clans) flag, Arambai Tenggol stated that the flag represents the unity and peaceful coexistence of Manipur’s indigenous clans and should not be construed as a territorial claim or political provocation. “The flag is regularly displayed at public events in India and abroad, and its appearance at Shirui Hills was in line with such traditions,” the group said.
The statement also addressed concerns about slogans heard during the event. According to Arambai Tenggol, chants such as “Ema Leibak Na Yaifare, Long Live Manipur, Shirui Ema Na Yaifare” were meant as messages of love and reverence for the land and its people, without any intent to disrespect or provoke any community.

Reaffirming its position, the organization stated it fully supports the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur and respects the customs of the Tangkhul community. “Our traditional dress and symbols are integral to our cultural identity, and wearing them in public is a lawful expression of cultural pride - not an act of provocation,” the release stated.
In conclusion, Arambai Tenggol called on all communities to approach such cultural expressions with understanding and objectivity, urging unity and peaceful coexistence. The statement ended with a message of solidarity: “Let us stay united – all is well and all will be well. Yaifaminarasey and Yaifarey.”
