Imphal, April 24, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a bid to streamline Aadhaar enrolment and curb discrepancies in date of birth records, the Government of Manipur has issued a strict directive to all departments involved in the issuance of birth certificates. The notification, dated April 24, 2025, was released by the Secretariat of the Home Department and signed by Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur.

The order stems from concerns raised in a previous communication dated November 4, 2024, wherein the Home Department urged departments like RD&PR, MAHUD, and Health & Family Welfare to minimize the issuance of multiple birth certificates and cancel any previously issued ones if a new certificate is to be generated.

No More Changes to Date of Birth Post Aadhaar

The government highlighted that the rising number of applications for multiple corrections of date of birth has significantly hampered Aadhaar enrolment procedures. As a corrective measure, it has now been mandated that the date of birth be thoroughly verified before Aadhaar registration. Once registered, no changes to the date of birth will be permitted.

This directive aims to ensure the authenticity and consistency of birth records, aligning with UIDAI standards and preventing misuse or manipulation of official documents.

The notification has been circulated to all Deputy Commissioners, the Managing Director of MANITRON, UIDAI Regional Office Guwahati, Director of Health Services, and other relevant officials for immediate compliance.
