Aizawl, April 8, 2025: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma held a meeting with Pu Anurag Garg, IPS, Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), at his office today. The meeting focused on strengthening efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need for greater support and resources to tackle the growing drug menace, particularly the influx of narcotics through the international border in the region. He highlighted the importance of improving infrastructure and increasing manpower to effectively address the issue.
He further mentioned that the state has approached the Central Government with various proposals to strengthen its anti-drug operations. One of the key appeals includes the establishment of a Mizo Territorial Army under the Ministry of Home Affairs to support border security and counter-narcotics initiatives.
Pu Anurag Garg, in response, acknowledged the importance of setting up a full-fledged Zonal Office of the NCB in Mizoram to better coordinate enforcement efforts. He also agreed on the necessity of increasing manpower, particularly officers who are proficient in the Mizo language, to enhance local engagement and efficiency.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary, during the meeting.
