Tuithaphai, April 23, 2025, Virthli(ONP): The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has announced that it will observe Separation Day on May 3, 2025, marking two years since the community's separation from the Meitei population in Manipur. The observance will take place at the Wall of Remembrance in Tuibong, a monument that symbolizes collective grief, resilience, and unity among the Kuki-Zo tribes.

The day will be dedicated to remembrance and reflection for victims of the ethnic conflict that has deeply affected the Kuki-Zo communities. According to the ITLF, the event will include a range of activities such as prayers, exhortations for victims and their families, a keynote address, organizational reports, and speeches by various tribal leaders.

A key highlight of the program will be the Jangnadopna ceremony - a traditional condolence ritual honoring those who lost their lives during the conflict.

While there will be no official shutdown on May 3, authorities have stated that traffic movement around the Wall of Remembrance will be restricted to ensure the program proceeds smoothly and respectfully.

The ITLF has extended an open invitation to tribal organizations, student bodies, philanthropic groups, media personnel, and the general public to attend and participate. The forum emphasized that the event is an opportunity for collective remembrance, unity, and a reaffirmation of shared purpose.

“We invite everyone to stand with us on this solemn day to honor the past, strengthen our resolve, and move forward in unity,” said the ITLF’s Department of Information & Publicity in its statement.
