Muolhoi, April 26, 2025: The Hmar Students' Association (HSA), one of the oldest student organizations in Northeast India, convened its 31st Executive Council on April 26, 2025, at the HSA Complex, Muolhoi, Haflong, Assam. The session brought together delegates representing the General Headquarters, Assembly Affairs, Joint Headquarters, and various Branch units, alongside two distinguished special guests.

The proceedings commenced with an address by Assembly Speaker Pu L. Rothanglien Khawbung, who conveyed his gratitude to the delegates for their participation. This was followed by a dedicatory prayer led by Rev. Samuel Lalringum Thiek, committing the session to divine guidance and blessings.
Special Guest Pu Ricky Lalremsanga, Chief Executive Member of the Sinlung Hills Council, delivered a message of encouragement and support, acknowledging the Association’s contributions to the community.
In his Presidential Address, Pu Lalrosang extended heartfelt appreciation to the delegates for their continued unity and commitment. He presented a comprehensive report on the Association's recent initiatives, with particular emphasis on HSA’s activities addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur. He also commended the Joint Headquarters for their contributions and extended special congratulations to Tv. Jerry Lalhratthang Buongpui for his success in the 2024 UPSC Examination, noting it as a significant source of pride for the Hmar community. Furthermore, Pu Lalrosang underscored the urgent need for the preservation and promotion of the Hmar language, calling upon the Sinlung Hills Council leadership to prioritize linguistic and cultural initiatives.
Several key resolutions were adopted during the Council, including the honoring of Pu Lalhmangai Thiek Bilkhawthlir of Mizoram with a financial compliment of Rs. 12,000 for having twelve children; an appeal to the Government of Mizoram to declare December 5th (Sikpui Ruoi) as an official public holiday; advocacy for the establishment of an Examination Centre in Tuithaphai to enhance student accessibility; the formation of a Souvenir Board to commemorate the upcoming 60th General Assembly; and a review and amendment of the HSA Constitution to strengthen the Association’s organizational framework.
At the closing, the Speaker expressed gratitude to all members from near and far, encouraging them to continue working with unity and enthusiasm for the welfare of the community and students. The event concluded with a prayer led by Tv. Lalmalsawm Thiek, committing the Council’s efforts to God’s guidance and blessing.
