Imphal, August 14, 2012: Convener of UPF, the Joint Monitoring Group of Kuki underground organisations under Suspension of Operation (SoO), Sanga Hmar on Tuesday said that Kuki revolutionary organisations under SoO want a peaceful and political solution to the current conflict with the government.
Addressing a press meet at its Ebenezer Camp at Saparmeina, Sanga Hmar said that the agreement on Suspension of Operation signed between UPF and India Government will expire on August 22 and it would be extended further very soon.
This would be the fifth time that SoO is to be extended since UPF entered the agreement with the India government, Sanga, who is also the Deputy Secretary of HPC (D), added.
Informing that UPF has submitted its Charter of Demands to both the Centre and state governments; Sanga disclosed that the main point in the Charter of Demands is a State within the State.
The demand is within the purview of Indian Constitution.
It is for a separate administration from the current administration of the government of Manipur.
In this regard, UPF wants a peaceful and political solution, which is the best option, he said.
Secretary Organisation of UKLF, Jacob; External Affairs Secretary of ZRA, Calvin; Rohan Kuki of KNF and GS Aaron of KNF were also present during the press meet.
