Imphal, May 04 2012: Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo has urged the BRO to complete the development work of NH-150 with due emphasis on its qualitative aspect at the earliest in public interest.

Incidentally, Manipur and Mizoram are connected by NH-150 through Churachandpur and Tipaimukh.

After his appointment as HAC Chairman, Dr Chaltonlien Amo toured his home constituency (Tipaimukh) for four days together with an official team for a first hand account of the conditions there.

In the course of the tour, the Chairman held a meeting with district level officers at Parbung sub-divisional headquarters and reviewed the development programmes.

Dr Chaltonlien Amo also discussed about water shed management, MGNREGS and other schemes with public leaders.

Speaking to media persons, Dr Chaltonlien said that people have been facing serious difficulties regarding transportation and communication on account of the tardy pace of NH 150 development work being executed by BRTF.

He appealed to the work agency to speed up the highway development work while adhering to standards norms for quality control in public interest.

Taking due note of the absence of power supply in Tipaimukh AC, the HAC Chairman vowed to ensure regular supply of PDS items particularly SK oil.

Saying that there is a plan to install a 33/11 KV power sub-station at Parbung, the Chairman sought public cooperation towards the concerned department in executing the plan.

He also assured that all efforts would be put in to make up all the shortcomings of Parbung CHC and also to inaugurate Phaizol ADC office building which was put off as the election code of conduct had come into force by then.

He also highlighted his desire to open an examination centre at Parbung in view of the difficulties endured by students in travelling to Churachandpur for giving matric examination.

The visiting official team led by the HAC Chairman were accorded warm receptions at Pheizol, Damdei, Taithu, Lungthulien and Senvon which is located close to the Mizoram border.

At Senvon, DC Jacintha Lazarus distributed solar lamps to the villagers through MLA Chaltonlien Amo.
