[/caption]SILCHAR, Nov 13: In a pre-dawn operation by security forces today, 9 Hill Tiger Force (HTF) rebels were arrested from the deep jungles around the village of Arda 20 km from Redjol of Dima Hasao district. According to a senior police office based at the district headquarters of Haflong, there was intelligence input about the movement of HTF extremists in the area and the security forces had accordingly chalked out the blue-print to nab them.
The captured rebels included ‘commander-in-chief’, finance secretary and sergeant major of the outfit. It was a great success for the security forces which, it is believed, would break the backbone of the group which has been behind series of macabre incidents in the hills district recently when peace and normalcy has been fast returning much to the people of the zone. 15 gelatin sticks, 7 SBL guns, 2 pistols and 2 grenades were recovered from the possession of the extremists, pointed out the police officer. In fact, after the intelligence input, the security forces had been keeping a tab on the movement of rebels and accordingly laid out the plan to take them into custody.
