According to a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing), insurgents belonging to the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) - a non-Suspension of Operations (non-SOO) group - opened fire on an Indian Army column, prompting retaliatory action. In the ensuing exchange, four insurgents were neutralised.

The statement further mentioned that the operation remains ongoing, with searches continuing in adjoining areas to ensure complete neutralisation of threats and recovery of arms or materials.

Security officials said the operation was launched following recent atrocities committed by UKNA cadres, including the killing of a village chief, intimidation of locals, and attempts to destabilise the region.

The Defence Ministry spokesperson emphasised that the successful neutralisation of the terrorists underscores the Indian Army and Assam Rifles’ commitment to protecting civilians, mitigating threats, and ensuring peace and stability in Manipur.
