Imphal, November 4, 2025: Following Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla’s communication to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) regarding the drastic reduction in flights from Imphal, Air India Express has responded positively by announcing key relief measures.
The airline has decided to cap fares for the Imphal - Guwahati sector at ₹6,000 and will soon introduce two additional daily flights - one each on the Imphal - Guwahati and Imphal - Kolkata routes.
In an official statement, Raj Bhavan expressed appreciation for the prompt action taken by MoCA and Air India Express in addressing the connectivity concerns of Manipur. Further details on the new flight schedules are expected to be announced shortly.
Governor Bhalla had earlier written to Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, highlighting the severe hardship faced by the people of Manipur following the sharp decline in flight services. He noted that reliable air connectivity serves as the state’s lifeline, particularly in the absence of rail infrastructure and unreliable road links due to frequent floods and landslides.
Raj Bhavan reaffirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure timely and effective measures for restoring essential air connectivity in the interest of the people of Manipur.
