Highlighting the cultural ties of the Mara people with other Zo groups, he cited the work of Prof. F. K. Lehman (1963), noting that the Maras share close linguistic and cultural roots with the broader Zo family.
Encouraging the youth, the Chief Minister urged them to excel academically and participate actively in state and national-level competitive examinations. He announced several education-related projects for the Mara region, including:
• Construction of new Secondary School buildings at New Laty and Lopu (₹145 lakh each)
• A Higher Secondary School building at Theiri (₹111 lakh)
• A new Girls’ Hostel at Tipa V (₹188 lakh)
He also shared that the state government has created 515 new government posts this year, in addition to 2087 direct recruitments and 532 through departmental examinations, underscoring the government’s commitment to youth employment.
The Chief Minister further appealed to young people to stay away from corruption and addiction, emphasizing integrity, hard work, and moral values as key to Mizoram’s progress. “Let us be a state known for knowledge, integrity, and development,” he said.
CEM Pu M. Laikaw, in his remarks, extended gratitude to the Chief Minister and the state government for their ongoing support to MADC and the Mara community, while encouraging MSO members to continue their work with dedication.
The Jubilee function was presided over by T. John Tennyson, Vice President of MSO, with Rev. K. Vabeinocho officiating the opening prayer. Elson Eliasah Notlia, MSO President, and other dignitaries also delivered addresses.
