Lamka, November 6, 2025: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), a conglomerate of recognised tribes in Lamka, has raised serious concerns over what it calls “glaring inconsistencies” in the forensic examination of audio tapes allegedly implicating former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in the ethnic violence against the Kuki-Zo community.
In a statement (File No: ITLF-PR-202514) issued today, the forum condemned the National Forensic Science Laboratory’s (NFSL) recent submission to the Supreme Court, in which it claimed it was “not in a position” to verify the authenticity of the recordings or identify the voice due to alleged tampering. ITLF described the response as “deeply troubling,” accusing the NFSL of evasion and bias in a case involving “grave human rights violations.”
Citing findings from Truth Labs - an independent forensic agency - the ITLF highlighted that the private lab had found a 93% voice match with Biren Singh, terming it “conclusive scientific evidence” that government bodies appear to be ignoring.
“The Centre must end its protection of Biren Singh and allow justice to prevail,” the ITLF stated, adding that contradictory forensic reports “only prolong the trauma of victims and obstruct the truth.”
Reaffirming faith in the Supreme Court, the forum urged for an independent and transparent probe, free from political interference. It also called on democratic institutions, the media, and civil society to uphold justice and accountability.
“Justice delayed is justice denied - our people’s pain will not be silenced,” the statement concluded.
