Imphal, September 4, 2025: The Government of Manipur has inaugurated the state’s first Bio-Input Resource Centre (BRC) at Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Imphal West, marking a major step towards sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture.
The centre was inaugurated by Shri A.K. Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary (Agriculture), under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) and organised by the District Agriculture Officer, Imphal West.
The BRC aims to promote bio-inputs, natural farming practices, and farmer training programmes, equipping cultivators with sustainable alternatives to chemical-based farming.
The event witnessed active participation from farmers and dignitaries, including Shri Peter Salam, Director of Agriculture; Shri S. Kennedy, District Agriculture Officer, Imphal West; and Shri I. Shanta Singh, Pradhan of Khurkhul GP.

Officials highlighted that the BRC will serve as a knowledge hub to train farmers, produce bio-inputs locally, and encourage eco-friendly practices that can boost productivity while preserving soil health and the environment.
With this initiative, Manipur has taken a significant step in aligning with India’s broader vision of natural farming and sustainable agricultural growth.
