Mizoram Captain Lalrinawma Sailo Selected for Kirti Chakra Award

The Kirti Chakra is India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, bestowed for exceptional bravery and selfless service away from the battlefield. Captain Lalrinawma Sailo’s selection marks a proud moment for the Mizo community, as he becomes only the second Mizo to receive this high honour, following Assam Rifles’ Subedar Chalhnuna.

President Droupadi Murmu, on the eve of Independence Day, approved the conferral of 127 Gallantry Awards and 40 Distinguished Service Awards to personnel from the Armed Forces and security agencies. Among the gallantry awardees is Captain Sailo, recognised for his exemplary courage and outstanding service during challenging operations.

The award stands as a testament to the dedication and valour of Mizo youth in the defence of the nation, bringing honour not only to Mizoram but to the entire North East.
