Dimapur, July 30, 2025: The Government of Nagaland has appointed Sentiyanger Imchen as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He will assume office on August 1, 2025, succeeding Dr. J Alam, who is set to retire on July 31 upon attaining superannuation.
The appointment was confirmed through an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel 'A' Branch) on Wednesday.
A 1991 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Nagaland cadre, Imchen is presently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner. With decades of administrative experience across key departments, he is widely regarded as a seasoned and capable officer.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as the state continues to navigate various developmental and governance challenges. Stakeholders have expressed confidence that Imchen’s leadership will bring continued stability and progress to the administrative machinery of Nagaland.
