Kohima, July 8, 2025: The Government of Nagaland has issued an official statement in response to the proposed sit-in protest by the 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP), scheduled for July 9, 2025, at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.
In a press release issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary, the Government emphasized that the concerns raised by the committee have already been taken up at the highest level. It cited a meeting held on June 3, 2025, chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister (Home), where representatives of the 5 Tribes CoRRP and the apex bodies of the five tribes were present. During that meeting, it was conveyed that the matter would be placed before the State Cabinet for its consideration.
Following through on that commitment, the Nagaland State Cabinet, in its meeting on June 12, 2025, decided in principle to constitute a Commission to thoroughly examine all aspects of the Reservation Policy in government employment. The statement further noted that the Personnel and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department has since been actively pursuing the Cabinet’s directive and working on necessary follow-up actions.

The statement seeks to ease tensions while underscoring the administration’s willingness to engage constructively on this sensitive issue.
