New Delhi / Aizawl, July 8, 2025: As part of his ongoing visit to New Delhi to advocate for Mizoram’s development priorities, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma held separate high-level meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Pu George Kurian, on July 7, 2025.

Meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah

In a significant engagement, the Chief Minister met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed several critical issues related to Mizoram’s governance and infrastructure. Key points raised included:

Progress of the Handholding Scheme

Implementation of the Thenzawl Peace City Project

Requirement of funds for other major development projects

The Home Minister assured that these matters would be reviewed during the upcoming Parliament Session, in consultation with the Union Finance Minister, and necessary steps would be taken to fast-track support.

The Chief Minister also sought the early assent of the President to the Mizoram (Maintenance of Household Registers) Bill, 2019, which has been pending approval. Additionally, the proposed handover of Lengpui Airport to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was discussed.

CM Lalduhoma also requested the deployment of bigger helicopters in the state to improve mobility and emergency access in remote regions. He further appealed for enhanced CISF deployment at Lengpui Airport and additional support under the Police Modernisation Scheme, including funding for infrastructure and equipment.

Meeting with Union MoS George Kurian

Later in the day, the Chief Minister also met Union Minister of State Pu George Kurian, focusing on strengthening Mizoram’s livestock, dairy, and fishery sectors. CM Lalduhoma highlighted five major project proposals submitted under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY):

1. Integrated Aqua Park at Zawlnuam

2. A fishery project under the Chakma Autonomous District Council

3. Project proposed by the Mizoram Fish Farmers, Animal and Husbandry, Dairy Producers and Marketing Association

4. Project by the Mizoram Cooperative Fish Farming Marketing and Processing Federation Ltd.

5. A project under the Lai Autonomous District Council

He urged the Minister to expedite approvals and sanctions for these proposals. In response, Pu George Kurian assured the Chief Minister of his full support and promised to personally follow up to ensure the swift implementation of the projects.
