Churachandpur, July 5, 2025: In a significant political development, the apex Kuki tribal body, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), has unanimously resolved that no Kuki-Zo Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) shall participate in the formation of any new popular government in the state of Manipur. The resolution was passed during a joint meeting held on July 4, 2025, at the KIM Secretariat in B Vengnuam, Lamka.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of all KIM federating units and district heads including the Kuki Students' Organisation, Kuki Christian Leaders’ Forum, Kuki Chiefs' Association, and other key community bodies, also resolved that the Kuki-Zo people must not compromise on their ancestral land, cultural identity, and socio-political and economic rights under any circumstances.
In the official memorandum signed by KIM General Secretary Khaikhohauh Gangte, the resolution is described as the "collective political will and aspiration of the Kuki-Zo people" and is deemed binding upon all Kuki-Zo MLAs, representatives, and affiliated community organisations.
“This decision reflects the united political stance of the Kuki-Zo community in light of ongoing unrest and political uncertainty in the state,” the memorandum stated.
