Agartala, July 2, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha announced a significant boost to public safety and emergency response systems in the state with the handover of 16 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances and the launch of a Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) system.
Speaking on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said, “The safety of every life is our government’s top priority.” He praised the Transport Department’s tireless efforts, which he said have already led to a notable decline in road accidents across the state.
The 16 BLS ambulances, valued at ₹3.48 crore, have been handed over to the Police and Fire Services. These ambulances are equipped to provide immediate life-saving care during emergencies and are expected to significantly improve the state’s trauma response capacity.

In a major initiative aimed at enhancing women’s safety, the Chief Minister also launched the Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) system, a ₹5.49 crore project. The VLT will enable real-time tracking of public transport vehicles, allowing authorities to monitor movements and respond quickly in case of emergencies, especially for women commuters.
“These steps reflect our commitment to building a safer Tripura - for everyone on the road and especially for women,” CM Saha said.
Officials from the Transport, Police, and Fire Services departments were present at the event.
