In his speech, Pu John Siamkunga criticized the BJP for observing the anniversary of the Emergency as “Samvidhan Hatya Diwas” (Constitution Killing Day), arguing that BJP itself has been undermining the Constitution. He questioned, “How can the BJP, which refuses to amend controversial laws like the CAA, accuse others of violating the Constitution?”

He further alleged that the BJP's Hindutva agenda, driven by the RSS, poses a threat to religious minorities, particularly Christians, and warned that Mizoram must remain vigilant. “The BJP sees Christians as foreigners and wants to exclude them from the national fabric,” he said.

The meeting also served as a platform for the Congress to express concern over rising communal politics in India and reaffirm its commitment to secularism, pluralism, and the rights of the people of Mizoram.
