Accused Key Conspirator Arrested in Jiribam Killings Case: NIA Press Release

New Delhi, July 31, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in coordination with the Assam Police, has arrested a key accused conspirator involved in the brutal killing of three women and three children in Jiribam district, Manipur, according to an official NIA press release issued today.

As per the NIA, the accused - Thanglienlal Hmar alias Boya, a resident of Moinathol Dilkshosh Ghaat in Cachar district, Assam - was apprehended by a joint team of NIA and Assam Police. During the arrest, a mobile phone and a SIM card were recovered from his possession.

The case pertains to the abduction and brutal murder of three women and three children by militants in the Borebekra area of Jiribam district on November 11, 2024. The victims' bodies were later disposed of in the Barak River, the press release noted.

The NIA stated that investigations have revealed Boya’s active involvement in the conspiracy and execution of the heinous crime.

The agency, which formally took over the case from the local Borebekra police, is continuing its investigation under case number RC-15/2024/NIA/IMP.
