Aizawl, June 16, 2025: The 84th Raising Day of the Assam Regiment was commemorated today with solemnity and pride in Aizawl, Mizoram. Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), led the observance, beginning with a floral tribute at the War Memorial, Treasury Square, honoring the brave soldiers and martyrs of the regiment.
Members of the Mizoram Ex-Services League (MESL), officers from the Assam Regiment and Assam Rifles also laid wreaths in tribute to the regiment’s legacy and sacrifice.
Later, a formal commemorative programme was held at AR Ground, Aizawl, where the Governor paid rich tributes to the Assam Regiment, appreciating their long-standing service to the nation. He urged the personnel to continue serving with honor and dedication.
Lt Col Clement Lalhmingthanga (Retd.), MLA and President of MESL, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his presence and praised the Assam Rifles for organizing the meaningful celebration.

The event was attended by key dignitaries including Brig Pushpendar Sorayan, DIG, HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles; Lt Col ZS Zuala, Patron of MESL; Padma Shri awardee Hav Lalbiakthanga, President of the World War-II Veterans Association, along with MESL members and serving personnel from the Assam Regiment and Assam Rifles.
