Shillong, June 4, 2025: Meghalaya Police have officially confirmed the death of 29-year-old Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi as a case of homicide, not accident, after recovering a freshly purchased dao (machete) from the gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra, where his body was discovered last week.

The breakthrough came during a combing operation near the crime scene, strengthening suspicions that Raja was murdered during what was meant to be a honeymoon trip with his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who remains missing since May 23.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now handling the case. Police say post-mortem reports are awaited to establish the cause and timing of death, and further forensic analysis is underway.

Raja’s family has alleged foul play and demanded a CBI probe, suspecting involvement of local actors including hotel staff and rental service operators.
