Imphal, June 10, 2025: In line with the directive of the Hon’ble High Court of Manipur dated March 3, 2025, and as per the provisions of Section 47(2)(b) of the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Councils Act, 1971, the Governor of Manipur has appointed Deputy Commissioners of six hill districts as Administrators of their respective Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) until further orders.
As per the order issued by the Secretariat: Tribal Affairs and Hills Department, the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur will now serve as the Administrator of the Churachandpur ADC. Similarly, the DC of Senapati has been appointed to oversee the Manipur North (Senapati) ADC. In Tamenglong, the Deputy Commissioner will take charge of the Tamenglong ADC, while the DC of Chandel will serve as the Administrator of the Chandel ADC.
The Ukhrul District’s Deputy Commissioner has been entrusted with the administration of the Ukhrul ADC, and the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi will function as the Administrator of the Sardar Hills ADC.

The order was issued by Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary (Tribal Affairs & Hills), Government of Manipur, and is effective immediately. It reaffirms the government’s commitment to maintaining governance and oversight in the hill areas amid ongoing administrative challenges in the functioning of the district councils.
