Aizawl, June 30, 2025: In a key organisational change, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday officially appointed Dr. K. Beichhua as the new President of the Mizoram BJP during a formal programme held at the party’s state office in Aizawl.
The announcement was made by Vanathi Srinivasan, National Returning Officer (RO) for Mizoram BJP, who was appointed by the central leadership to oversee the state’s internal election process.
Dr. Beichhua’s name was finalised following a nomination process held yesterday, and no other candidate filed papers for the top post. This makes him the first former MLA to be appointed as state BJP president in Mizoram.

He will lead the party until 2027, taking over from Pu Vanlalhmuaka, whose second term as state BJP president is coming to an end.
Dr. Beichhua, a medical doctor by profession and a former minister, joined the BJP after serving as an MLA in the state legislative assembly. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the central leadership to strengthen the party in Mizoram with experienced leadership ahead of the next election cycle.
