Sarma reported that this brings the total number of arrests in the ongoing operation to 94, following the increased enforcement launched after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 . The operation has focused on individuals spreading anti India sentiment or seeking to incite communal tension online.

Previous phases of the crackdown resulted in 90 arrests, including two further detentions earlier this month - one for an alleged anti Hindu social media post and another for derogatory remarks about Hindu deities, bringing the total then to 92.

The state government’s campaign has also included actions against fake SIM networks tied to Pakistan through Operation Ghost SIM, which involved the detention of at least 15 individuals and earlier arrests in Assam, Rajasthan, and Telangana. Simultaneously, in communal hotspots like Dhubri, security forces have been on alert, with 38 arrests and 'shoot-on-sight' orders issued following provocative incidents.
