Guwahati, June 1, 2025: Nine-year-old Binita Chetry from Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district, Assam, has created history by securing the third position in the prestigious global reality show Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2025. The grand finale, held on May 31, saw the young dancer captivating the audience and judges with a power-packed performance that earned her a standing ovation.

Binita became the first contestant from Northeast India to reach the finals of BGT, a feat celebrated across India and particularly in her home state of Assam. After the results were announced, an overjoyed Binita told reporters, “I’m very happy and proud of myself; it’s the best experience.”

While magician Harry Moulding was crowned the winner, and dance troupe The Blackouts took second place, Binita’s dazzling presence on the international stage has won her global recognition. Although official prize distribution details for third place have not been disclosed, Britain’s Got Talent winners typically receive a £250,000 prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance. As a runner-up, Binita is expected to receive significant opportunities and accolades.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the young star, sharing her video with the caption:

“From Assam to UK: Assam’s talent shines at Britain’s Got Talent. Little Binita Chetry makes the judges go all 'Awww' with her powerful performance. My best wishes to her.”

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang also lauded her, calling her “Karbi Anglong’s Pride” and wishing her continued success.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi also wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “At just 9 years old, Binita Chetry has mesmerized the world. Her talent, focus, and dedication reflect the immense potential of young people from our region. I’m sure this is just the beginning of a remarkable journey.”
