The incident, which unfolded during the Shirui Lily Festival—a time traditionally reserved for peace and cultural celebration - has deeply shaken the community. TKLD called the murder “brutal and cold-blooded” and expressed outrage that such violence occurred amidst a period of festivity.

TKLD emphasized growing concerns over safety, especially during public events, and labeled the killing as a wake-up call for both the community and authorities.

In its statement, the student body demanded the following:

* Immediate and firm action by law enforcement to ensure timely justice.

* Unified response from all Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and community bodies to demand accountability.

* Vigilance from the public against threats to peace and justice.

“Such violence has no place in our community,” TKLD affirmed, vowing to remain vocal and united until justice for Late Mr. Thotshang is achieved.

The statement was signed by TKLD President Nganingam Pheiray and General Secretary Yurngam A Shimray.
