CCPur, April 26, 2019, Virthli (ONP): Prolific striker Lalsiem Chongloi netted 4 goals as devastating SYMROPIA FC trounced Rorelsang Memorial Team 7-0 to book a place into the knock-out round while Kapthuom Memorial Team of Muolvaiphei also sails through to the knock-out round as Group G winners following 3-0 victory over Sanakhang FC thanks to a Jehovah's hattrick in today's one-sided Group encounters of the ongoing 16th Hmar Martyrs' Trophy 2019 played at Saikot playground, Churachandpur.
In today's first match, hattrick from Jehovah Zote helped Kapthuom Memorial Team of Muolvaiphei to a convincing 3-0 victory over Sanakhang FC to enter knock-out round as Group G winners. Despite suffering heavy setback, Sanakhang FC still earned a place into the knock-out round.
The highly anticipated second match of the afternoon saw SYMROPIA FC taking on Rorelsang Memorial Team with the task of extracting big result to consolidate their push for the title. Just 3 minutes into the game, the Churachandpur District Super Division outfit put their nose in front through Lalsiem Chongloi and in the 10th-minute mark, the goal-poacher added another to extend lead for SYMROPIA FC and an own goal from Ngaia of Rorelsang Memorial Team after delightful freekick from playmaker Seiboi Haokip ensured 3-0 lead for SYMROPIA FC at half-time.
The match restarted with SYMROPIA FC re-establishing dominance and few minutes into the second-half, Lungunhao Sitlhou put the match out of reach with a fine finish and to complete a stunning 4-goals haul, skipper Lalsiem Chongloi converted two penalties, which he earned by himself, in quick succession midway through the second-half and a William Neihsial's late goal completed a 7-0 routing that earned SYMROPIA FC a place into the knock-out round.
Tomorrow, last year's quarter-finalists FC Zotal will be taking on Ngurte YC in the first match while under-pressure Eimi Police FC face Ahsisomleng FC.
In their bid to better their strong show of last year, FC Zotal gathered a strong squad that consist mainly of players from NEROCA FC.
Meanwhile, Eimi Police FC, who suffered 2-1 defeat at the hands of Kanglei FC in their opening group match, will be taking on Ahsisomleng FC with a defeat would all but confirm their elimination but a win with two or more goals will send them through to the knock-out round.
