CCPur, April 29, 2019, Virthli (ONP): Prolific goal-scorer Thangtinlen Haokip scored twice and Jerry Pulamte and Immanuel Intoate were also on target as Saikawt YC trounced Bungmual YC 4-0 while first-half goals from Muri and Bawirosang helped Tuithaphai SC to a convincing 2-0 victory over Rorelsang Memorial Team in today's group encounters of the ongoing 16th Hmar Martyrs' Trophy 2019 played at Saikot playground, Churachandpur.
In today's first match, first-half goals by Muri and Bawirosang helped Tuithaphai SC to a convincing 2-0 victory over Rorelsang Memorial Team, which proved enough for them to seal a place into the knock-out round as runners-up of Group F behind free-scoring SYMROPIA FC while the result left Rorelsang MT out of the tournament.
The second match of the day between Bungmual YC and Saikawt YC produced moments of spectacular football early on and towards the closing stages of first-half, Thangtinlen Haokip broken the deadlock with a smart finish for Saikawt YC and a further goal from Immanuel Intoate put Saikawt YC 2-0 up at half-time.
Despite Bungmual YC pressing high with the restart of the match, their efforts proved futile as Thangtinlen Haokip added his second of the afternoon to take his goal-scoring tally to 5 goals and a late goal by Jerry Pulamte ensured 4-0 victory for Saikawt YC.
The result elevate Saikawt YC to top of Group H while Bungmual YC ended group-stage as runners-up.
In the pre quarter-final finals, Saikawt YC will meet Sanakhang FC on 6th May, 2019 while Bungmual YC face Kapthuom Memorial Team in the same knock-out round on 3rd May, 2019.
