Lamka, Sep 20: Claiming that the recent political revival witnessed in the state’s tribal belts have brought the SoO conglomerates, KNO and UPF, into a historic agreement on having a shared political agenda, Calvin H, convenor of the joint meeting where the historic agreement was reach-ed, today called upon both the parties to refrain from issuing statements which can create unnecessary confusion in the minds of the public.
Addressing reporters at his residence here, Calvin said the strong political revival movement witnessed in some hill areas particularly Chura-chandpur since the passing of three contentious Bills by the State Assembly has delivered what the KNO and UPF had desired and worked for since 2012 which is sharing a common political agenda or de- mand between the two groups.
That decision according to the convenor was taken on September 13 during a joint meeting of both the parties, wherein they also agreed to refrain from howling their separate demands with the spirit of having a shared agenda. The actual framework of that shared agenda will be put on the table very soon, but until then it will be wise if both the parties refrain from making statements which can create confusion among the public, he added.
His statement was made in apparent reference to a news item published by an Imphal based daily and articles published and shared in various social media on the exclusive demand of one group.
‘It is very unfortunate for our people if the KNO or the UPF keeps on bragging their respective demands before the final framework for the common agenda is arrived at,” he asserted and claimed that now is not the time to keep bragging about the past.
“We are headed for a fresh political chapter and it will be in the best interest of all that the focus is on our shared agenda. Stoking past agendas, as against the well exhibited spirit of oneness, will only lead to confusion and misunderstanding”, he said, even as he called for a conducive atmosphere to pursue the shared political goal.
