National Renewable Energy Fellowships 2010-11

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announces fellowships for pursuing PhD and post doctoral research in the field of Renewable Energy for the year 2010-11.

Applications in prescribed format are invited from eligible candidates for pursuing JRF / SRF / PDF in the field of renewable energy. The fellowship amount would be governed by the UGC / CSIR guidelines. Starting this year, the number of fellowships has been substantially increased as follows:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 40
Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) 40
Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) 20

ELIGIBILITY:
1. Junior Research Fellowship
The candidate must have 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in BE / BTech / MSc and should have been admitted for PhD in any branch of renewable energy in any higher educational institute /university / deemed university having facilities for such research work. Document in support of admission in PhD should be attached. The topic of research should pertain to basic / applied research in any of the thrust areas of renewable energy identified by the ministry.

The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years (as on the day on which the application is made), which is relaxed upto 5 years for candidates belonging to schedule castes / schedule tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC categories as per Govt. of India rules and regulations.

JRF will be tenable initially for a period of two years. The term is extendable for one more year on the basis of assessment of the progress made and if not awarded the SRF. On Completion of two years as JRF, the stipend may be increased to Rs. 14000/- pm for the third year, on the basis of assessment of the Fellow’s research progress / achievements through interview by an expert committee, the composition of which will be notified in due course. JRF will be terminated from the date of PhD thesis submission or completion of tenure whichever is earlier.

2. Senior Research Fellowship

The candidate must have either BE / BTech / MSc degree with minimum 60% marks or
equivalent CGPA with at least two years of post BE / BTech / MSc research experience as evidenced from fellowship / associateship or traineeship and published papers in standard refereed journals or ME / MTech or equivalent degree in Engineering / Technology with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

The upper age limit for SRF shall be 32 years (as on the day on which the application is made), which is relaxed upto 5 years for candidates belonging to schedule castes, schedule tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC categories as per the Govt. of India rules and regulations.
SRF will be given for a period of three years. The term is extendable by one year on the basis of assessment of the progress made by the Fellow as evidenced through publications. The combined tenure of JRF and SRF will not exceed five years.3. Post Doctoral Fellowship
The minimum qualification is PhD degree in the field of Renewable Energy.

The upper age limit for post doctoral fellowship shall be 35 years (as on the day on which the application is made), which is relaxed upto 5 years for candidates belonging to schedule castes, schedule tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC categories as per Govt. of India rules and regulations. PDF will be awarded initially for one year. The fellowship can be extended for another two years maximum on year to year basis.


The last date for submitting these applications will be 3rd Dec. 2010 ( 17th Dec. 2010 forAssam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim,Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul, Spiti District and Pangi subdivision of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nocbar and Lakshadweep islands)
