IMPHAL, September 1: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Manipur Police on Sunday, August 31, 2025, arrested four individuals belonging to the Keishal Village Volunteer Organization for transporting illegal arms and ammunition and engaging in prejudicial activities. The arrests, made from their respective residences, led to the seizure of a massive cache of weapons and explosives.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajkumar Sidharth, alias Momo (33), of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda, Imphal West district; Laishram Rameshor Meitei (44), of Lairikyengbam Leikai Salan Leirak, Imphal East district; Athokpam Brojendro Singh, alias Mukil (45), of Top Awang Leikai, Imphal East district; and Laishram Sachikanta Singh, alias Naothing (25), also of Top Awang Leikai, Imphal East district.
According to a police report, a wide array of dangerous items were confiscated from their possession, including multiple rifles, carbines, pistols, and hand grenades. The seized arms include three AK rifles, two AK Ghatak rifles, two INSAS rifles, two 7.62mm SLRs, two 9mm Carbines, and three .303 rifles, along with a modified .303 rifle mounted with a scope.
In addition to the firearms, the police also seized a substantial amount of ammunition. This includes 263 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 265 rounds of INSAS ammunition, 153 rounds of .303 ammunition, and 349 rounds of AK ammunition. A total of 30 magazines of various calibers were also recovered.

The confiscated items also include a variety of explosives and anti-riot gear, such as one No. 36 HE hand grenade, one Chinese hand grenade, one WP grenade, one detonator, two stun shells, and two tear smoke shells. Other seized items were two tube launchers, eight Baofeng hand-held sets with extra batteries and chargers, and a collection of bulletproof vests and helmets.
The operation, which highlights the police's intensified efforts to curb illegal arms trade and restore peace in the region, is part of a broader crackdown on criminal networks. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
