Imphal, July 3, 2025: Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), the apex body of the Thadou tribe in Manipur, has strongly condemned the brutal killings that occurred on June 30 at Mongjang village, Churachandpur district. The victims included Mr. Thenkhohao Haokip, alias Thahpi, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Kuki National Army (KNA)/Kuki National Organisation (KNO), two KNA cadres – Mr. Seikhogin and Mr. Lengouhao – and an innocent civilian woman, Phallhing of Koite village.
TIM described the incident as a "direct assault on the delicate peace" in Manipur and denounced it as a gross violation of fundamental human rights and dignity. The organization expressed grave concern over the rising violence between armed groups and the potential for retaliatory attacks that could further destabilize the state.
The Thadou apex body offered condolences to the families of the deceased while urging all armed factions, including KNO/KNA and UKNA, to exercise maximum restraint and pursue peaceful dialogue. TIM stressed that innocent civilians, especially women and children, often bear the brunt of such conflicts and must be protected at all costs.
Calling the event a "tragic reminder" of unchecked gun culture and extremist violence, TIM warned that the continued existence of armed groups - whether under Suspension of Operation (SoO) or otherwise- poses an ongoing threat to peace and security.
TIM urged both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take immediate and decisive action to prevent further violence, restore security in vulnerable areas, and protect civilian lives. The statement called for strong political will from both Central and State authorities to dismantle the roots of militancy in Manipur and ensure the state is no longer held hostage by fear, violence, and hopelessness.

The statement was signed by Mang Gou Thadou, Joint General Secretary of Thadou Inpi Manipur.
