Pherzawl, July 13, 2025: In a move to promote grassroots football and enhance local officiating standards, the Pherzawl District Football Association (PDFA) successfully organized a two-day Leadership and Referee Training programme on July 11–12, 2025 at the Hmar Sharon Damdiei Field, Pherzawl.
The training aimed to equip local youth with the skills required for officiating and managing football tournaments. Over 15 young enthusiasts from remote villages participated in the programme, receiving hands-on practical training along with a theory examination. A total of nine participants were awarded certificates of completion.

The sessions were led by Instructor Pu James Sanate, with coordination support from TV Daniel Buongpui. Organizers noted that these newly trained referees and leaders would soon serve in upcoming tournaments across the district, helping reduce dependence on outside officials and ensuring better representation of local talent.
Highlighting the importance of the event, the PDFA expressed gratitude that Pherzawl district now has at least nine certified individuals ready to take charge in future football tournaments.
The association also announced its intention to soon conduct training for Coaches and Managers, to further strengthen the football ecosystem in the district.
