Kuki Region National Workers Meets GPRNNSCN Leadership, Vows Continued Support

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of GPRN/NSCN, the Kuki delegation expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of President Maj. (Retd.) RM Lotha and N. Kitovi Zhimomi, and reaffirmed their support for a “honourable and acceptable political solution” between the Government of India and the Naga people.

The release underscored the inseparable bond between indigenous Kukis and the Naga political movement, stating that the Kukis of Nagaland remain integral to the region’s political and social fabric. The delegation reaffirmed that they would continue to defend and protect Nagaland while supporting a peaceful and just resolution.

The GPRN/NSCN highlighted the historical role of the Kuki community, citing their early and steadfast participation in the Naga political movement - predating even Naga counterparts from Manipur. In particular, the statement paid tribute to Lengjan Kuki, the only Kuki signatory to the historic January 10, 1929 memorandum submitted to the British Statutory Commission, calling him a “beacon of light” for today’s indigenous Kuki population.

In the meeting, Kuki national workers were encouraged to carry forward the legacy of the pioneers and to reject “false narratives” propagated by late entrants into the Naga movement - narratives allegedly aimed at diminishing Naga history, culture, and identity.

The leadership reiterated that questioning the contributions of Kuki-Naga national workers is tantamount to questioning the authenticity of Naga history itself. The statement concluded by calling for unity and continuity in preserving the integrity of the Naga movement, with the Kukis of Nagaland recognized as both historic contributors and present-day stakeholders in the ongoing political journey.
