Shillong, July 25, 2025: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma attended the Summit for Rural Empowerment under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PM-JVM), reaffirming the state’s commitment to inclusive development in tribal and rural communities.

The summit brought together key stakeholders - policymakers, self-help groups (SHGs), farmers, community leaders, and industry partners - to foster dialogue and action on empowering grassroots communities through sustainable and self-reliant practices.

Highlighting the state's progress, CM Sangma shared that over 55,000 women-led SHGs and 20,000 farmer groups are now actively driving economic and social transformation across Meghalaya.

“Our government remains committed to supporting grassroots entrepreneurship and building self-reliant rural economies,” he stated, calling the summit a crucial platform for collaboration and forward-thinking strategies in tribal development.

The PM-JVM initiative aims to uplift marginalized communities through targeted interventions in agriculture, skill development, market linkages, and infrastructure.
