The Thadou Kuki Students' Union is infuriated by the irresponsible and arrogant behavior of Mr.Shyam Lal Poonia, Deputy Commissioner,Churachandpur, on the day of Kuki Inpi Manipur General Strike.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur had imposed 24hrs General Strike from 6 am of 8th to 9th August,2018 in all Kuki inhabited areas of Manipur as a mark of protest against the inordinate delay and denial of justice by successive government at the Centre and the State to more than 900 slaughtered Kuki Civilians, 360 Villages destroyed and more than over lakh rendered homeless and displaced in the Kuki Genocide perpetrated by NSCN(IM) and his cohorts in the early 1990's. Mr.Shyam Lal Poonia, in a scant regard to the feelings and sensitivity of the Kukis, stubbornly organised cleanliness / social work with all the departments in the district on the very day of the the General Strike called by the Kuki Inpi Manipur.
This action resented the Kuki people to our wit's end, as such,the KIM ( Kuki Inpi Manipur) had appealed to the concern authority to remove him as DC Churachandpur through their press release. However, no positive response/action has been initiated by the concern authority for his transfer.
Mr. Shyam Lal Poonia,DC Churachandpur will be toatally boycotted in all Kuki Areas of the District, he shall not be allowed to attend office. His office (i.e. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner) shall be shut down with immediate effect (i.e.10th August ) nor will he be allowed to work from official Bunglow .
With the Office shut, all DC office staffs are requested to refrain themselves from attending as well as to work with Mr.Shyam Lal Poonia. Any staffs who do not take this Press Statement seriously will be dealt with and they shall be reaponsible for anything that may befell them.
We, the TKSU would like to appeal to the Government to remove Mr.Shyam Lal Poonia from the office of DC Churachandpur on or before 15th August,2018. Failing which, the Thadou-Kuki Students' Union will not hesitate to launch intense form of agitation in consultation with other Kuki Civil bodies.
