IMPHAL, Aug 10: The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) State Coordinating Committee (Manipur) has welcomed the resumption of the peace talks between HPC (D) and the Mizoram Govt today at Aizawl after a prolonged stalemate during which hostilities between the two parties reached a new height.

Saying that the resumption of the talks after three years is truly an encouraging development, the HSA State Coordinating Committee in a statement hailed the cessation of hostilities between the two parties.

It urged both the parties to respect the initiative of CSOs which had worked untiringly for the resumption of the peace talks and to sincerely work out a permanent and justifiable solution to the protracted issues of the Hmars in Mizoram.

The HSA also urged all stakeholders to demonstrate goodwill and fervently work together for a peaceful future.

“It is the prayer of the HSA State Coordinating Committee (Manipur) that the peace talks will be productive, honourable and will reach an acceptable and logical conclusion for all the stakeholders concerned,” it added.
