CCPur, Nov 6: Several student and youth organisations, including the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Churachandpur, Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF), and Hmar Students’ Association (HSA), have jointly condemned what they termed as the selective targeting of innocent civil society leaders by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Student and Youth Bodies Condemn NIA’s Selective Targeting, Decry Bias in Handling of Cases

In a joint press statement issued on Thursday, the groups alleged that recent actions by the NIA reflect an attempt to suppress voices that speak against injustice. They expressed concern over the lack of progress in heinous crimes against tribal people, including the killing of David Thiek, while asserting that most anti-national activities have occurred in the valley districts, citing the armed ambush on Assam Rifles personnel at Nambol on September 19, 2025, as an example.

The organisations accused investigating agencies of displaying bias against tribal leaders and questioned the absence of counter-insurgency operations in the valley compared to tribal areas. They further warned that if student and youth leaders continue to be unfairly summoned, a boycott of biased agencies would follow.

Reaffirming their faith in the Constitution of India, the student leaders emphasized their commitment to justice, equality, and the democratic right to dissent.
