Aizawl, Sept. 23: Marking a milestone in the state’s automobile sector, Mana Motors today launched Mizoram’s first-ever electric SUVs - the Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9e - at its showroom in Bawngkawn.
The BE 6 is priced between ₹20.84 lakh and ₹30.11 lakh, while the XEV 9e ranges from ₹23.95 lakh to ₹33.82 lakh, making them the first electric vehicles officially available in the state.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Franklin Lalrinngheta, Dealer Principal of Mana Motors, said the event was a landmark for Mizoram. He highlighted Mahindra’s global recognition in Formula E electric racing, noting that the expertise has now translated into high-performance SUVs tailored for Indian consumers.
Mahindra had introduced these EVs in India earlier this year, with strong demand reflected in sales of 20,000 units in just five months. Production is currently at 8,000 units per month, with plans to scale up to 12,000 units by March 2026.
The BE 6, equipped with 79 kWh and 59 kWh battery options, offers a driving range of 682 km and 557 km, respectively. The XEV 9e delivers 659 km (79 kWh) and 542 km (59 kWh) on a single charge. In Mizoram’s hilly terrain, the real-world range is expected to be around 400 km.
Performance-wise, both SUVs can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, reaching up to 200 km/h. They also deliver 282 bhp power and 380 Nm torque, making them powerful alternatives to petrol and diesel cars.
The launch of these SUVs is expected to encourage a gradual shift towards sustainable mobility in Mizoram, aligning with India’s wider push for electric vehicles.
